Get
(Jewish Religious Divorce)

Spiritual "uncoupling"
No one goes into a marriage expecting divorce. But, from its earliest origins, Judaism recognizes that it happens. Our tradition provides a simple and meaningful way to make the transition, dissolving the marriage under halakhah (Jewish law), providing closure, and setting both parties on a positive course in their respective lives.

Who needs a Get?
Anyone who's Jewish and was married to a Jewish partner, whether by religious ceremony or civil marriage, should go through the process of Jewish religious divorce. If a Jewish partner was married to a non-Jew, a Get isn't necessary.

A simple and meaningful process
Although it is an ancient practice, the writing and delivery of a Get does not include the stress and complications of a civil divorce (although a civil divorce must be finalized before a Get can be issued). There are no courtrooms or attorneys, and the process can usually be completed within weeks, at minimal cost.
